The vmu is sega's next generation peripheral that is going to take the Dreamcast to the top. The VMU is like a memory card and gameboy combined. The VMU hooks into your joypad and you can download games especially for it and for games like Sonic where you can train characters and use them in races. The following games use the VMU for more than saving.
Sonic Adventure - Download characters and train them. Then you can put them in a race or fight to try to get some coins. Powerstone - You will be able to play several mini-games where you could win coins that will eventual add up to unlock hidden features in the regular games. NFL2K - Using your VMU you can plan strategies and launch secret attacks that your opponnet can't see. It adds a whole new element to strategic gameplay. Ready 2 Rumble - You can view your statistics such as number of punches or your life left. Trickstyle - This VMU game is kind of wierd but cool at the same time. You can hoverboard in the future and fly over powerups. The powerups increase the "streak" behind your board in the main game. Jump Pack  The jump pack does what a rumble pack does for the N64. Only it's better designed and it'll work better with the games since it's on a better system! Another advantage to this Jump Pack is that it comes out on launch, so pretty much all the games will be compatible. Sure, it's not necessary, but it sure is cool!
